The best way to get around the island of Kos independently is by renting a car. The island of Kos is not very big, but with 43 km in length, the four-way vehicle is the most suitable especially for families or for those who want to travel around the island in the evening.

For those arriving at the airport of Kos the most convenient solution is the car rental directly from the airport with return at the departure in the same airport. The renter will wait for you at the airport exit, sign the rental contract and check the status of the machine. At the end of the rental you will return the car to the same spot where you picked it up. The international airport Kos Hippocrates (IATA code KGS) is located near the Antimachia village in the south-center of the island of Kos. It is 24km from Kos town, 6km from the center of Kardamena, 7km from Mastihari port and 16km from Kefalos resort.

What do I need to rent a car in Kos?

  • To rent a car in Kos, all you need is a credit or debit card. When picking up on site you will need to present:
  • Your confirmation voucher which will be sent to you after making the booking.
  • Driver’s credit card, with the funds necessary to cover the security deposit if you choose car rental with excess.
  • Valid license for each driver; you will need to have been licensed for at least 12 months or 24 months.

Rental under normal conditions is available for those aged between 21 and 70. If you are under 21 or over 70, an additional cost may apply for insurance which is indicated at the time of booking.

Is everything included in the rental price?

Most rentals include Theft Protection, Damage Waiver (CDW), local taxes, airport taxes and road taxes. Any extras will be paid at the time of collection, together with the extra in the case of a young driver. If you choose an additional driver, you need a seat for the child or an extra application for delivery to another location. These costs will still be shown during the booking process.
