Where to eat on Patmos: restaurants, taverns and ouzeri

On Patmos there are many restaurants and taverns where to eat excellent Greek cuisine, local dishes and specialties as fresh fish. Dinning out in Skala and Hora it is a great choice, but you spend a little more than average. Some restaurants are very popular and pretty tourist.

At the port of Skala, most of the restaurants are concentrated along the street parallel to the port or on the seaside. During the day time are very popular with groups from cruise ships, while at night they become more characteristic with the tables set up in the street or by the sea.

Grigoris Taverna (tel.22470 31515) is located in Skala on the street near the harbor. The place is very popular with locals and tourists. Offers dishes of meat and grilled fish and a rich variety of traditional dishes. Hidden in backside alleys is Hiliomodi Ouzeri (tel.22470 34,080) known for a wide variety of seafood meze (appetizer) and fresh grilled fish.

Out of Skala

Hora town is busiest at night and offers an elegant atmosphere in the inner lanes. In the square of Hora is located tavern Vangelis (tel.22470 31967) offering a family atmosphere in an intimate and traditional cuisine. You can find here some traditional recipes of Patmos processed in a very creative way.

Benetos Restaurant (tel.22470 33089) located at Sapsilia is one of the most renowned restaurants, ideal for a romantic evening by the sea offers with excellent service and special recipes. 14 tables are located on a spacious veranda overlooking the Aegean Sea, creating a relaxed, romantic atmosphere. Benetos uses a modern approach to classic Mediterranean cooking, while also including some Asian-influenced dishes. The eclectic menu is a result of extensive traveling and sampling unique regional dishes throughout Europe and the United States. Emphasis is placed on utilizing the freshest ingredients including local fish, and fresh vegetables and herbs from our own organic garden, located in front of the restaurant.
