Patmos is one of the most spectacular islands of the Dodecanese is a wild beauty combined with a strong historical and religious part. It is called the island of the Apocalypse because the last and the most mystical part of the Bible was written right here. The Greek island of Patmos is also rich in history and culture of Byzantine Empire and  characterized by interesting nature due its volcanic origins that have donated strange rock formations.

The traditional Greek architecture, the warmth and hospitability of the people are the reasons for which the island of Patmos is loved by visitors from all over the world. Situated to the northeast is one of the last islands of the Dodecanese surrounded by Leros and the Cycladic islands of Naxos and Mykonos. The climate is perfect with long and dry summer and very nice and pleasant spings and autumns.

Hora, the capital town of Patmos, together with the Monastery and the Cave of Apocalysse is since 1999 under the protection of UNESCO and the Greek Parliament officially recognized it Holy Island Patmos. The monastery really overwhelms you. It is visible from almost all the places on this scenic little island. A favorite destination of  pilgrims throughout the year, Patmos is also frequented by hikers from the nearby islands and visitors from the cruise ships.

Skala harbor and the byzantine city of Hora can be very crowded during the day, the rest of the island is however less frequented by daily excursionit. The country side instead maintain a certain tranquility. Despite the fame, Patmos has not yet become a destination for mass tourism. Many limitations are in fact prescribed as  the construction of an airport and other projects for urban development and infrastructure.

Part of the Municipality of Patmos are also the nearby small Greek islands of Arki and Marathi with their 60 inhabitants.The laid back pace really draws you in , while the air inspires to take full advantage of the season at hand. The waters revive you and the sun seems to shine with magnified rays making you feel unique and alive.
